Welcome

Milwaukee Area Intergroup

Welcome to the Milwaukee Area Intergroup (MAI) of Overeaters Anonymous (OA). OA is an international organization dedicated to helping people work through their struggles with food. It uses the 12-step program to address all areas of overeating, but does not endorse any one specific diet or weight-loss plan.

You do not have to register or be a member of OA to attend a meeting. OA is for anyone who has a problem with food. It is based on the 12 Steps and 12 Traditions of Alcoholics Anonymous. In the steps, we replace the words “overeater” for “alcoholic” and “food” for “alcohol”. This program is not just for the person who compulsively overeats but also those who undereat or have other issues including anorexia and bulimia. The MAI covers Milwaukee and several surrounding areas.

OA Preamble

Overeaters Anonymous is a Fellowship of individuals who, through shared experience, strength, and hope, are recovering from compulsive overeating. We welcome everyone who wants to stop eating compulsively.

There are no dues or fees for members; we are self-supporting through our own contributions, neither soliciting nor accepting outside donations.

OA is not affiliated with any public or private organization, political movement, ideology or religious doctrine; we take no position on outside issues.

Our primary purpose is to abstain from compulsive overeating and to carry this message of recovery to those who still suffer.

Is OA for you? Take this 15-question (yes/no answers) survey to find out.
