The Business of OA
The business of a large, widely distributed, volunteer-fueled organization, such as Overeaters Anonymous, relies almost entirely on the efforts put forth by volunteers. In the case of Overeaters Anonymous those volunteers serve as representatives in local intergroups and regional service bodies and as delegates to the annual World Service Business Conference (WSBC). At each of these levels and in accordance with OA’s Tradition Two, officers and trustees are elected to act as “trusted servants” to those bodies, rather than as governing boards. In accordance with OA’s Tradition Eight, “special workers” may be employed at any level as deemed appropriate. All business is decided and transacted while keeping OA’s Twelve Traditions foremost.
